Yahoo! is looking for skilled backend engineers to be a part of our growing team!

We are looking for engineers to work in a team dedicated to addressing functionality, performance, security, and application stability, in a highly integrated environment that uses web services to consolidate data from numerous other Yahoo! products/teams. Knowledge and understanding of web services (especially the REST model) and XML, along with a well-rounded skill set in internet development issues, including PHP, AJAX, Apache, Unicode, and XML.

Our organization also demands a passion for the end-product, comfort translating complex product requirements into engineering implementations, and ability to operate in a dynamic, rapid development environment.

Preferable Job Qualifications:

You are well versed in code optimization and software design principles, are comfortable with complex product and engineering requirements, and have a passion and demonstrated experience in web development. You have experience working in scalable tiered applications and working with backend and middle-tier teams to meet overall requirements. You should have 4+ years using PHP or other server side languages to build consumer oriented web applications. Experience working with MVC frameworks and understanding of web services (especially the REST model) are critical factors for success.

Job Responsibilities:

* Translate product requirements into functional specifications and build software that meets those requirements.
* Work with and coordinate activities with other Yahoo! teams that provide data or services.
* Contribute to the continual improvement of our Agile development processes
* Maintain up-to-date documentation on processes and code

Minimum Job Qualifications:

* Demonstrated software design and development experience
* Excellent development skills in PHP
* Solid experience in another high level language such as Java or C++
* Strong knowledge of XML handling
* Familiarity with web services, especially REST
* Demonstrable skills and experience in building large-scale, high-volume websites
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
* Experience with Agile development methodologies.
* Experience working with in a Linux environment
* Familiarity with SVN, and bug tracking tools is highly desirable.
* Team player with strong collaboration skills to work with various cross functional teams
* Web 2.0 savvy and eager learner who stays on top of fast moving internet technologies.
* Demonstrated experience with using the MySQL database a plus
